St George & Dragon fiscals with FAKED postmarks on eBay
Posted: Fri Jul 20, 2012 6:22 pm
This stamp and a number of similar items were offered for sale on eBay closing on July 24th...
A poorly cleaned fiscally used 5/- green St George & Dragon with fake barred obliterator applied - some of
you may be familiar with this "canceller" ..... I've seen it before.
I sent a message to the vendor expressing my concerns and opinion but he did not reply after 48 hrs.
....here are a few more of the items he had available for auction closing July 24th
Please note though that I don't believe the vendor was actually aware of the "status" of these items when listing them
and insufficient knowledge about Tasmanian postal/fiscal stamps is a reasonable explanation. The seller has been
a successful trader on eBay for many years and has a blemish-free feedback record.
Footnote: following some discussion via e-mail, the vendor has now removed the items with faked postmarks from his eBay listing
which is to his credit.
It was 'caveat emptor' there for a while though!
