Does anyone know of a 1870 1d sideface watermark 10 that is perf 12.25? I picked it up a few weeks ago and initially thought it was 11.8 but it is 12.25 and the misperf is 12 and is approx 8mm from side.
Any thoughts anyone?

An interesting stamp - pity the person who soaked it of paper forgot that the ink is fugitive.
The research on the Sideface issues has been pretty exhaustive since the days of A.F. Basset Hull and
I cannot recall a 12.25 perf being reported. I'll alert TPS BB member 'Bill' and hopefully he may be able to assist.

I'd remove that seller from my "Favourite Sellers" list if I were you.
re the 12.25 perf on the 1d S/face above, TPS member 'Bill' suggests as follows:
"
I would suggest that the poster compare the stamp with another that is known to be perf 11.8 via an Instanta
gauge and scan the two together. Perf 12.25 does not exist as genuine."
