These are 'per favour' strikes of course (I must have had 100s done in the 1980s although I didn't obtain these particular examples .... I favoured
the 1c Antarctic Ship stamp for my postmark obsession at the time  )

Even though this is the case, I don't believe that anyone "fiddled" with the datestamps just to make up 'a curiosity' or two for a postmark collector.
Naturally, some examples on commercial covers would be ideal to prove that this variation in the datelines was 'constant' for a period of time.
Unfortunately, my "Medicare Hoard" was only accumulated from late 1987 so I'm not likely to find some more examples (if they exist) without a
bit of luck.

It is a new late date indeed!

==============================================================================
Now available for open access - an Index of Tasmanian Post Offices and Postal Markings
@ http://tps.org.au/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Work commenced on this huge project in 2011 and although there has been a 'recess' in construction
it is now available for all and work has re-commenced.

WANTED - if you like what you see and would like to assist, please contact me via the TPS BB.
The project requires 1) a few more dedicated workers to compile the listings - it's not that hard as
templates are provided and it's just a matter of learning how to insert data and images into the
right spots. Workers will be provided with an up-to-date listing of postmarks, post office details,
rarity ratings, etc.; 2) 300dpi images of top notch examples of any cds postmark, manuscript cancel,
crown seal impression and so on. These can be forwarded to me directly or posted in the relevant
topic on this forum.

thanks Daryl - your offer of assistance is most welcome!

Check out the resources section first at http://tps.org.au/wiki/index.php?title= ... ntributors
so that you see where to get maps, co-ordinates, photos, newspaper references, etc. as well as to see how "Mediawiki" script is used to
create a page.

I assume that you have John Hardinge's latest postmark list update (April 2013) - if you don't, I can send you the Word files right away.

Choose a couple of very small post offices to start with where you may have a fair amount of material ...there's lots of interesting
places in your 'neighborhood' - Kelso, Winkleigh, Greens Beach, Loira, Kayena, Robigana, etc. ....they may make a good place to start
and you have 'local knowledge'. :)

I will be providing some new page templates soon which should be a little easier to use than the one that Geoff and I was using a couple
of years ago.

Don't worry if you don't have some of the postmarks - collectively we should be able to find what we need.

GLENORCHY Type R6 (ii), (iii) New early date ?
Previous ED is 5 Jan 1993. Present example is 17 Sep 1992.
I am certain this is Type R6 (ii), (iii) as it has the very short bar between TAS and the Postcode

GLENORCHY 5-P 19 JE 87 ?? Type 8T
Hardinge lists several 8aT varieties, but the present example seems to be unlisted.
There is No 8T in the listing or the latest update.
Is this a true item or has the index code not come through in the postmarking process?

HOBART - Type 5T with mixed sized dateline

This early date suggests that there was either an additional 'state' or that we need to see a 'proving image'
of the currently listed Type 5(m)T(iv)(i) if this is indeed an example of the Type 5(m)T(iv)(ii)

I think that the code number just hasn't 'impressed' ...there's a hint of something where it (i.e. the code number) should be.
