Tasmanian Ports
Tasmanian Ports
I am doing a collection of Australian places with "PORT" in their name. These are the Tasmanian "Port" place names which had a Post Office; Port Arthur, Port Cygnet, Port Esperance, Port Huon, Port Sorell, If anyone knows of other places I would love to hear from you and especially if anyone has a date stamp cancelling a Port fro Tasmania please get in touch.
Re: Tasmanian Ports
I think the only one you have missed is Port Leven which was re-named Ulverstone 1 Jan 1882 but as the datestamp was simply Leven I guess its a moot point if it fits the description of a "Port" datestamp. Port Latta and Port Davey did not have a PO or a datestamp.
Datestamps from some of the post offices you list are quite rare and will take some finding, for instance the first Port Cygnet, Port Esperance and Port Arthur are all very hard to find.
