Tasmanian "Paquebot" Handstamps

I recently noticed this cover in a "carton lot" whilst preparing it for disposal
This pictorial SPIRIT OF TASMANIA datestamp was applied at the Devonport post office to mail
posted on board the ship.
There is no reason to apply a PAQUEBOT handstamp to domestic mail of course so my query is
could this be the Devonport PO's handstamp applied 'for fun' or is it a private handstamp applied
to the envelope before posting? I note that it is a real commercial cover so the second option
is less plausible than the first.
Does anyone have a 'definite' strike of a Devonport PAQUEBOT h/s of this type?
