TPS BB member David Newell send me a scan of this interesting COLLINSVALE Type 4 cds today.
Can anyone read the "day" in the dateline?
Originally known as BISMARCK, the little hamlet was renamed COLLINSVALE on request of the Premier
during a frenzy of patriotism on May 1st 1915. The official PO records indicate that the post office changed names on July 1st.
Until now, the earliest recorded date for this cds is -3AU15 and the latest recorded dated for the Bismarck cds is JY 11 15.
This example of the Type 4 cds is obviously the earliest date but what is it "in full"?
