PAID AT ST HELENS / 17JA 2002 / TAS-AUST
N.B. although the second digit in the "year" is indistinct I'll call it a zero.
I think this is the only "TAS-AUST" steel datestamp that I have seen with
the year in full!

New late date for LEPRENA / SP 24 27 / TASMANIA (Type 1b with asterisk above dateline)

Previous recorded late date before asterisk removed = MR 25 27.
Although day not clear (best guess is "24"), I believe the month to be September

printed between the "3" and the "M".
Previous early and late dates:
Type 2b - 30 Sep 1915 to 28 Mar 1958
Type 5s - 1 Sep 1958 to 4 Dec 1973

Tenalga MSS. Appears to be ? 13 5 ?? As the Avery and Hardinge ERD is June '17, and I am confident that the month at least on this example is 5( its clearer on the original than the scan), then its most likely ? May 13

Here are two possible new ERDs.
1. Whitefoord No/4/29. Current ERD Avery and Hardinge is 18/Jl/1930.
2. Less clear but seems to be Whitemark 12/FE/30. Current ERD Avery and Hardinge is 27/FE/30.

- whitemark-12-FE-30-Type4.jpg (33.19 KiB) Viewed 164683 times
Any comments about validity of these ERDs welcomed.

KAWALLAH was renamed NEWSTEAD, effective from February 1st 1961. These datestamp impressions
are on a sequence of four covers (each signed by the postmaster whose name was Freeburgh). I have just described these
for my next internet auction and have assumed that this is the only 'set' seen to date as it provides a new late date
for KAWALLAH (Jan 31st 1961) and a new early date for the first NEWSTEAD Type 5s (March 18th 1961). The first
and last days of use of the Type 5 RELIEF No.6 datestamp neatly ties up the name change as well as the withdrawal and introduction
of datestamps ......such 'changeover covers' are not often seen.
