Returned for additional postage

This illustration appeared in The Courier No 25, June 1998 as part of a listing of handstamps compiled by Tony Orchard. The listing was made at the time of the closure of the Post Office and Telecommunications Museum in 1992. The listing also included a second (identical?) handstamp.

I have never seen this used on Hobart covers and my question is -are there any recorded examples

I have not seen a genuine postal use of either of the tax handstamps that Tony Orchard listed. In my experience, 'Returned for Additional Postage'
handstamps are seldom seen on mail from all Australian states ...this may have been due to such handstamps being used on larger size letters (which
unfortunately are very poor 'survivors') rather than just a minimal usage.
