Tasmanian Church Where ??

#1 Post by Mike » Fri Jul 23, 2010 4:53 pm

I think this could be a Tasmanian church, but where is it? Southern Tasmania perhaps?
Posted to Wynyard 26/11/12 by mother to her daughter, a Mrs G Kirkland. I cannot decipher the name above the date (see scan2). Kodak with 4 solid dot stops in each corner.
Any ideas?

Mike, can I see "S.A." written after the town name that looks like it ends with "burra" ?(I've checked photos of churches at Burra (SA) and at Korumburra (VIC) but there's nothing there that I could find similar to your RP PC view) ... Ross (P.S. I'm fairly certain that it's not a church in Tasmania)

I've just had a look in "Post, Telegraph and Telephone Offices of South Australia and the Northern Territory" by Martin Walker and found a town near Booleroo named ARWAKURRA ..... the writing looks "close" and with "S.A." alongside that may be it. I couldn't find any photos online of anything in Arwakurra though .... it sounds like it was too small to have such a large church so the building may be in a larger centre somewhere in the district.
