IS THIS AN "EIGHT HOUR DAY" PARADE IN HOBART?

#1 Post by Ross Ewington » Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:25 pm

This real photo card of a parade in Elizabeth Street, Hobart would have been produced not much later than 1913 ... the
first year that a tram route operated along Liverpool Street (you can see the overhead wires in the large view ... see
image link below). Unfortunately, the photographer is not identified on the card printed on "Empire" postcard stock.

My best guess is that it is an "Eight Hour Day" parade ..... any thoughts?

Yes I would say that the above scan is a 8 hr parade.

Have scanned a similar card.
The caption for the scan below is a little hard to read, "8 Hour Demonstration Nov 2nd 1913" Real photo by WJ Little (Hobart)
