The two RP cards below are of the H.M.A.S. Australia in dock at Burnie. The photographer is
not identified but it's most likely to have been Ernest Winter (Tasma Studio).
I believe the cards date from the early 1930s but I would be interested to find out the exact date
of the visit as the young girl (with plats) in the LR corner of the second photo became my mother
sometime much later !

Re: NAVAL VISITS - REAL PHOTO and PRINTED CARDS
While waiting for a reply I had a look around the National Library of Australia digitised
newspapers website @ http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home and think I have
found the answer to my query.
Answer: the H.M.A.S. Australia visited Burnie during March 11-14 1933. My mother (in the lower
PPC photo) would have been 13 years of age at the time and that "looks about right".
Any other information about this (or the 1934) visit to Burnie is still welcome!
If you have the time, the NLA newspaper website is certainly a powerful (and free!) research tool!!

Nice card ...here's a date for the visit.
The J Class subs were actually J1-J2-J4-J5 This is the latest card by Baily that I have seen (he died in 1921).
