Real photo cards depicting Tasmanian ship and train wrecks exist and have been posted elsewhere in this category
but there were other 'newsworthy' events which would have been a subject for postcards.
This card is entitled 'Ruins of Messrs Fergusson Co.' - the photographer is not clearly identified but I believe it to
be the work of H.H. Baily.

The building was in Murray Street below the intersection with Davey Street.
To read about the inquest into the cause of the fire (the police considered 'that suspicious circumstances had manifested themselves')
you can read the report in The Mercury from Wednesday, July 26th 1911 here ...... http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/10108969
If you have a real photo card depicting ruins from a fire or similar, please post an image in this topic.

This is the remains of Royal Hotel fire Latrobe. Not sure of the date, c1912? State School is in the backgroud. Hotel today is known as Mackey's Hotel.
