Mount Lyell Clock & Chimes Souvenir Postcard

#1 Post by Mike » Thu Oct 24, 2013 7:05 pm

A set of 6 ? Would appear to have been published by the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Co. Statistics are dated 31st Dec 1906. So perhaps cards were issued in 1907. Cards are printed by well known South Australian printer Donald Taylor Collotype. Are these the only Tasmanian view card printed by Taylor? I do not know of any others.

Were these cards issued as a money raiser for the clock tower at the Queenstown Post Office? Any ideas? The back of all cards are the same. One card is postally used 12/5/08 at Queenstown.

Here's more than enough on the topic courtesy of TROVE ...It's a 'big read' so make a cup of tea first! :)

I can't recall having seen any other Tasmanian view cards printed by Taylor either.
