I feel it is somewhere in the Huon or Channel but I just can't pick it. Any help appreciated.

Can you please provide an image of the back of the card too (unless it's totally blank of course!)?

The back of real photo cards can help 'date' the image and sometimes narrow down the choice of photographers which in turn may assist with identifying the locality.

I really cant recognise this location at all.
I dont claim to recognise every place on the Tasmanian Coast but I am 90% certain it is not anywhere in the Channel or Huon area.
I cant think of anywhere in Tasmania that looks like this either. Some clue which would assist in identifying it as a Tasmanian card would be helpful.

It is a Kodak Australia Postcard with a cross in each corner where the stamp goes. It has TAS written in pencil, hence my search, but I am no longer certain that it is in our state.

Apart from from the usual Post Card, Correspondence, Address only and the Kodak Australia square, the back is blank.

It is possible to 'date' a card and a view of a 'Kodak Austral' stamp box can be particularly useful whereas just a verbal description doesn't provide the 'necessary details'. Not to worry though as the photo is not from a glass negative and as the print is b&w and not sepia, the photo is more likely than not to be from the 1920s/30s. Establishing this is important when checking out the location of roads, houses, jetties, etc. in a 'whereizit' photo.

If you can post an enlargement of this section of the photo ....

..it should assist in 'nailing' the location if it is in Tasmania

thanks .... unless it is a print from a 'vintage' negative, the stamp box 'dates' this card/photo as being from the early 1920s.

I look forward to viewing an enlargement of the bay and foreshore.

cheers , Ross

hopefully, you mean 'enlargement' rather than 'reduction' :o - a 600dpi scan of the area in question should suffice and will fit the forum page width.

No rush ...cheers, Ross

Yes, this is indeed a Tasmanian Postcard. It is in fact view of Strahan. The bay in the foreground is Risby Cove, then Long Bay which is a part of Macquarie Harbour. The building in the middle left with the gable roof is now called Franklin Manor which is B & B accommodation. The jetty has long gone but this area is now part of the Risby Cove accommodation. See my scan of the jetty.
The point on the far right is Regatta Point which was the terminus of the Mt Lyell railway from Queenstown. There is also is a wharf area here. Again see my scan of Regatta Point.
