Its not only postal history collectors that need to find the location of old Tasmanian towns. In my real job, in the Mollusc department of the Australian Museum, we are slowly making a database of the collection, and are entering the latitude and longitude of specimens to assist future information retrieval. The image below is from the register for specimens of land snails collected in Tasmania in 1906. The fourth line has a locality of Yendis of Gendis, which we can't track down. Anyone know where it is, or was?
