This real photo postcard is the first I have seen by by J.A.Allen of 72 George Street, Launceston. Chris Long does list him with the same address but does not have any further information.
The Tasmanian Post Office Directories for 1908 and 1909 lists Joe A Allen, Confectioner, at 72 George Street. It appears photography was a side line for Allen. The 1907 PO directory lists Foso Co Fruits with J Rosevear as manager at 72 George St and the 1910 PO directory lists Thos Rose, Furniture Dealer at 72 George St. So Allen was in business at 72 George St for little over a year. It might explain why examples of his photos are uncommon.
I know it is a long shot but can anyone identify the lady in the car? Also can someone identify the vehicle?
