This great social history postcard was taken by little known photographer F.S.Rodgers. The 1913 Tas PO directory lists Rodgers as a grocer living at 263 Liverpool Street Hobart. The 1936 Tas PO Directory list Rodgers living at 89 Argyle Street Hobart with no occupation listed so perhaps now retired? It would appear that photography was a hobby or perhaps a very small side line. I have not come across another postcard by Rodgers.
The postcard is of H.D. King's General Blacksmiths shop, Dover Tasmania. Herbert King is listed in the 1914 Tas PO Directory.
Interestingly Chris Long in his book Tasmanian Photographers lists Rodgers living at 84 Argyle Street, Hobart, probably late 1930'"!!!. No other information as per usual!
Real Photo Postcard by F.S.Rodgers.
