This real photo portrait PPC by J.W. Beattie c.1915 is of a bandsman, mostly likely
a member of a Hobart-based brass or concert band. Close examination of the medals
reveals that they are from various band championships [the bar on the medal at centre-top
is impressed BATHURST, the medal in the middle of the bottom row is inscribed CONCERT
BAND 1908 (or 1903)]
The card is unused (unfortunately) but has a Kodak Austral back of a type that was first used
during the WWI period.
If anyone can identify which band this man may have been member, please let us know. I
know it's a bit of a "call" but you never know.
I have seen many wonderful real photo portrait cards by Tasmanian photographers. If you
have some you would like to share please post them in this topic.

Re: REAL PHOTO PORTRAIT CARDS by VARIOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS
Here's a portrait of some farm workers 'in situ' with a traction engine and threshing machine (imported by A.G. Webster, Hobart)
Probably 'dates' from the 1905/10 period.
