COLOUR CARD ILLUSTRATED BY DE WITT - ANY INFORMATION ??

#1 Post by Ross Ewington » Mon Aug 02, 2010 2:26 pm

This card is new to me. It features a painting by Peter de Witt with a view of Cataract Gorge, Launceston looking towards King's Bridge.

The card was printed by Seddon Press (Granville Street, Launceston) and measures 136mm (wide) x 111mm (high) ... a little "taller" than a standard postcard.

I would date the card as being from the 1950s ...... can anyone narrow that down at little?

Also ...

1) has anyone seen this card or any other cards with scenes by de Witt (or other artists) which may be from the same series?

2) does anyone know anything about the artist Peter de Witt?

3) did Seddon Press print any other postcards, tourist views, etc. ?

Any assistance will be appreciated!
