This card for Labor candidate Ben Watkins (member for Franklin) has just been discovered.
It was most likely produced as campaign material for the 1916 state election (Watkins lost his seat
but was returned to the House of Assembly in 1919). It is possible though that this card dates from that
election campaign but I'll go with 1916 for the present.

The card is unused and was printed by "Labor Papers Limited Print, Collins Street, Hobart".

Do any TPS BB members have any postcards of a similar nature?
Does anyone have any 'who, what why and when" information about the printer?

I have a card that describes itself a Major T H Davies Election card. It is somewhere in one of my Postcard Albums, so I have not had chance to find it. I have never tried to research Major Davies. Can anyone assist please?

T.A.Okines, The Liberal and Progressive Candidate. I presume the stuck on photograph is our Mr Okines with sisters? wife and friend ? who knows?
Did Mr Okines win a seat?

From a search of the Parliament of Tasmania online records, it appears that T.A. Okines was never elected
to either the House of Assembly or the Legislative Council (he was a candidate in 1925) however there is another
story to tell about Okines as this excerpt from the online edition of the Australian Dictionary of Biography for Tasmanian
Premier A.G. Ogilvie indicates....
