REAL PHOTO CARDS by J.J.N. BARNETT

J. Barnett is referred to by Chris Long in "Tasmanian Photographers 1840-1940" as
"(The) Doyen of Tasmanian press photographers" and many of his "news photos" made
it on to postcard.
Although the address stamped on the back of this card indicates that it was probably printed
between 1937 and 1959, the photo was actually taken at Elwick in 1932. The horse
is Second Wind (jockey W. Duncan) which one the King's Cup that year .... the next
King's Cup meeting in Tasmania wasn't until 1937 and was held at Launceston.
