Very interesting "EMPIRE" card by unknown photographer. I have a few of these cards by the same source whom seemed to frequent the Channel Huon area. ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PHOTOGRAPHER WOULD BE APPRECIATED ?

Cheers Kerry

DISASTER off Kettering FOUNDERING OF S.S. HUON. 24th April 1914
THREE LIVES LOST.
RESCUE BY THE EXCELLA
The shocking news was received in town yesterday, afternoon that the steamer Huon, bound for Hobart from Channel ports, had gone down off Ket- tering and that three lives had been lost. The news, which, unfortuntely
proved true, caused consternation in the city and much anxiety was felt pend- ing the arrival of this Excella, which had the survivors on board. Knots of people hung about, the whaves and shortly, before 7 o'clock a small crowd had gathered on Queen's Pier. Before the vessel had been moored, anxious re-
latives of the Huons passengers and crew sprang on board. The survivors were mostly huddled up in a corner, and looked woe- begone having had a rough time. They had bad to make shift is best they could to dry their clothes on board. The heavy rain which was falling for some time previous to their landing added to then discomfort, and they lost no time in getting to their homes, in company with friends and relatives. The scene of the acci-
dent was some 13 miles from Hobart, in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, be- tween Roberts and Clear Points a spot presenting no danger to naviga- tion and is clear of rocks. The weather was calm, and the sea smooth as, a mill
pond and the only explanation is that she overbalanced, turned turtle and sank. The whole catastrophe was the event of a few minutes
Empire Postcard showing the raising of the HUON by 2 fishing boats and being towed ashore into Kettering? I think ?
