Can any of the members point me in the direction of where I can obtain information on this company particularly how it got into carrying the mail.
Thanks in advance

Webster Rometch & Duncan
Re: Webster Rometch& Duncan
John,
Cant help very much but I have posted here a note to the Huon Times from Webster to place an Ad for the Geeveston-Hobart route 1912.
Also from Walch's Almanac under the Hobart Listings, Coach and Omnibus services some details of timetables. Also under the individual listings by Municipality, there are a few timetable listings under 'Conveyance", EG Esperance.
Webster would have tendered for mail routes advertised by the Post Office Department in Government Gazettes and I recall seeing the occasional announcement of a successful Mail Tender.
If you have access to other Walch's Almanacs and the Govt Gazettes you could piece together a good idea of their coverage and I suspect the same for Tatlows.
You would probably be familiar with the Webster Rometch postcards showing their 'Omnibuses".
I assume they tried where possible to secure a mail contract to operate along with a commercial coach service. They were also running local tours out of Hobart for tourists

Here are two images of a Tatlows Mail Coaches cheque drawn on the National Bank of Tasmania, Stanley. Not exactly a postal item but it might be of interest.
