Postmark on pictorial

Hi all, Hope you can help me with this postmark with some information it looks like a number strike but( Launceston) between the bars

This cancel was first used in Launceston on 27 December 1894. If you can get hold of Part 1 of the "Green book" you can find information about this canceller on pages 97 and 98. Other members of the BB will have more knowledge about this type of canceller. It looks like it was used as a "Killer" - this type was used a lot in Adelaide during this pre federation era. Many of the old duplex cancellers were sawed in half and the section with the hideous thick horizontal bars was retained for use in various areas such as the parcel office.

The cancel illustrated is most commonly found on newspapers are most frequently on the Halfpenny value which was a common newspaper rate. The obliterator is know with LAUNCESTON, HOBART names in the stamp but the uncommon obliterator reads LAUNCESTON over TASMANIA
