Caveat Emptor - "postally used" Fiscals !?!

This sold for US$199.35 on eBay from a seller in the Netherlands in Sep 09.

The Hobart cancel has been used many many times to cover over fiscal cancels, is there any proof these were par favor or actually reused going through the post?

Tasmania like Victoria has masses of fiscals postally cancelled. This one has cost the buyer dearly.

You may have some examples to show us all, this thread can be used to list some of what is out there.

Both of these "recycled" revenues were sold (unfortunately) on eBay during
2008. I wrote to the seller (an Australian part-time dealer) on several occasions
while these two duds were still on offer but I never received a reply (surprise, surprise!)

re the "datestamp" used. I don't think it's "legit" either and these stamps have been
recycled to defraud collectors rather the post office. If anyone has any revenues that
have a similar "cancel" it would be useful to record them here.

I wonder just how much money has been lost by unsuspecting collectors buying cleaned fiscals with or without postal cancels being applied later. It must run into thousands of dollars.

Attached is what I believe is a fake cancel on a revenue-used fiscal. There appears to be light pen marks on the stamp below the cancel. The trunk of the 7 seems thicker and the overall width of the 7 seems wider than a "genuine" 7. (This assumes of course that the one other barred 7 that I have in my collection is genuine!)
