Second allocation numerals-late period

Have included a listing of second allocation numerals not known from the last 3-4 years of allocations. As evryone knows, these are the areas with the most missing ties. Have shown a listing of the numerals as they were allocated. They have not transferred all that well from word but are readable. Those marked with ** before the number are simply speculation, or educated guesswork if you want to be kind. If you have any information re any of thse numbers or ties, please do not hesitate to let me know. Just a few more ties may make this much clearer.

Numerals available for reallocation: 8, 66, 69, 90, 112, 130, 134, 139, 146, 187, 230, 251, 257, 261(Lynch’s Creek used it’s CDS rather than it’s numeral for most cancelling – the number is very scarce indeed and was probably lost or destroyed early), 280, 285, 291, 304, 308, 317, 325, 336, 345.

That's a very helpful list. If I have understood it correctly, the Teepookana post office was closed in 1897. My 'Tee Poo Kana' tie of the first cds with BN367 appears to be dated 9 October 1897 (see listing of Scarcer cds on Pre-pictorial Issues). The cds year does not seem to be ambiguous, although errors are possible of course. Can you throw any light on this? Are any other ties known for that year?

It does look like a 7 doesn't it? However, by the curl on the end of the "7"i would say it's a nine which makes it quite late.

John. Thank you. I think your explanation is likely to be correct and makes sense in terms of the post office opening dates. I was fooled by the unusually sharp corner at the top right hand of the apparent '7', which made it different to the preceding '9'. As you say, the downward curve at the top left of the '7' is probably the key.
