Hello
In David Mc Namee's Exhibit about the first allocation period, there's several information about postmasters link with a post office.
Where can I find this information?
In order to understand more Post Office of Huon, I want to know if the postmaster Thomas S. Kellaway was the only postmaster and how long does he stay as the postmaster here.

thanks for your help

Laurent,

A you probably have seen volume II of the Green Books lists postmasters and postmistresses from 1899 to 1912.

For the period you are looking at I think it is a case of painstaking searching on Trove

Hi Malcolm
Thanks for your answer.
I do not have the second volume of "Green book", but I guess it's really useful.

Sorry, but I don't understand your sentence "painstaking on the Trove"

What does it mean?
Is it a typical Tasmanian's joke?
Again, thanks for your help

Laurent,

Firstly you should get Volume II of the Green Books. Not the most up to date but it obtains a lot of new information compared to Volume I

Trove is the online archive for the National library of Australia where you can search most newspapers published in Australia from the early period.

You will find many references to Post Offices etc when you get the search criteria right. You can spend hours finding interesting references.

Sorry I was not more explicit, I was not telling a peculiar Tasmanian joke!!
