I have just come across this photocopy of some "per favour" Crown Seal impressions which
I think is from a page of John Avery's collection. The Deloraine "features" again with the
"dated" Preolenna providing a hint as to when these impression were produced. I have a
Granton on cover somewhere which I will post here when found.

"per favour" examples of the Reedy Marsh are well known (I have had at least a couple of them over the
years) but I can't recall having seen a North Hobart other than this photocopy.

Example of Conara crown seal offered on eBay this example is applied on 2d sideface with BN 100 applied above it. Probably coincides with name change from Corners to Conara.

The CONARA crown seal in the previous post sold for AU$519.09.

Now back to the mundane and very ordinary ... yet another "per favour" impression
of DELORAINE (I'm starting to lose count of this one ;) )

I sold this rather nice PENGHANA crown seal on eBay a few years ago. I think
the clarity even surpasses that on the 1d S/F pair that I posted earlier.....

I need some help with this one! It appears to be a crown seal although the letters appear to be read in the opposite direction. Of the letters that can be read, I haven't found a match to a Tasmanian town. Anyone have the answer to this one? Thanks!!

I sold this 'per favour' strike of the TULLAH crown seal (probably during the 1950s) about 5 years ago.

A 'per favour' impression of the GRANTON Crown Seal on cover

The franking suggests that the cover was prepared in the 1930s but I believe that it has been made
to look that way and the item was actually produced in the 1950s ..... not that it's really of any significance! :)

Not 'brilliant' but I assume there is room to fit LOWER into a second line of text!

Please correct me if you think its WATTLE GROVE or WATTLE HILL !

TULENDEENA and on the 'flip side', TONGANAH.

The word 'FOREIGN' is obvious but as for the rest, I can't make it out.

Ross -- I do not have the answer, but please take a look at the crown seal I posted on 6 June 2010 (page 4). I think they could be the same. On the one I posted, "Foreign" is not obvious, but the next word has more letters that seem to match. The spacing at the top of the crown with the letters N and D also seem consistent. Maybe we can get the answer by examining both. Thoughts? Jerry

Thanks David ...RLA has suggested that it is most likely to be a London Foreign Branch crown seal.

Interesting that both strikes are on ½d Sidefaces.

Another one that was clearly done 'per favour'. The Granton Crown Seal on a GV 1½d red on an unaddressed envelope. Picked up a while ago on EBay and discovered during a rummage.

A bit of a 'bumper bundle' for you.

First, a pair of "North Dundas Road" on a strip of three 2d sidefaces, bought some years ago from PPA.

The other items are 'per favour' strikes on small pieces that I think were obtained from RLA.

They are: Post Office Harford; Port Arthur, Tas; Post Office Broadmarsh Upr. and finally General Post Office Hobart/ Customs. The Broadmarsh looks particularly small. Could it have been this size? Or is my item a reduced copy?

I have managed to find my sheet of these (ex-Lancaster, from the write-up) acquired some time ago, and supplemented by one other that duplicates an item on the page and a very clear example on a postcard.

Best things first. A clear strike of Interlaken (presumably, like Kelso, it was used pending the arrival of the cds) on a postcard to Lymington South. The date is December 1907 (from the arrival cds).
Interlaken.jpg

Next, another Kelso, on a pair of 1d pictorials. I have further examples on ½d Pictorial, two strikes on a pair, and 2d pictorial.
Kelso.jpg

I also have a pair of 2d sidefaces on small piece, both struck with Penghana.

From Keith Lancaster's annotations, Lefroy is considered rare. Here are a couple of examples on 2d sidefaces:

And finally..

A per favour strike of "Stamp Branch/General Post Office) on an embossed Newspaper Wrapper will have to go in a separate post as I have used up all the attachments!

I now feel I have done my duty to make sure that all of these items are recorded somewhere other than with me. I would hate the knowledge of their existence to be lost.
