I believe that Rose real photo card from the 1940s was originally produced and published by Spurling.
Is this correct and if so, does anyone have an image of the original card that they can post here?
Also ..... I recently saw a printed colour version of the same card offered on eBay, It's publication was
attributed to Ash Bester (unfortunately, the vendor did show both sides of the card). Can anyone verify
this attribution?

Hello Ross. Yes there is a Spurling version. Not such if it is earlier then the Rose version though. My card is unused and has a Kodak back. I have seen the colour card before but I do not have a copy so I cannot comment. The Spurling card is Series A708
For a bit of fun I have scanned a J C Breaden real photo card also. This fantasy card also has a kodak back with writing but no date.

I have just acquired another Spurling humorous advertising card (for the Rainbow Chalet "Nth End, Great Lake") - numbered A505

The Kodak Austral photographic postcard stock on which the photo is printed dates from the 1930s.

That's interesting ....... the photo was definitely taken on the front steps of the Rainbow Chalet
Can you post an image please ...... if the publisher of the Victorian card is on the card, that will be interesting information as well
