WHICH SHIP IS IT?

Please can a local expert identify the ship on the card shown below? Is it the 'Oonah'?

The card has been postally used in 1912 and the writer states: "This is my present job, Sydney & Hobart mails and passengers." The ship appears to be 'well dressed' with many flags up and there are lots of people lining the rails.

Graeme Broxam has kindly provided the following information re the 'mystery ship'

"The vessel is undoubtedly Huddart Parker’s SS WESTRALIA (2994 grt built 1896 hulked 1920s) that was in the Sydney-Hobart trade 1905-1913."

The SS Westralia at Port Cygnet Tas. Postally used from Franklin to Hobart 17/4/07

The photographer J B ? Any ideas who this is?

Here is another ship that I would like identifying please. The postcard was acquired recently on EBay, and on the back it is inscribed "Uglibah (?) at Simpson's Bay, Bruny". The name is difficult to read. Assistance please!

This is a very interesting photograph: the vessel is probably the North Coast Steam Navigation Co.’s YULGILBAR (799 grt built 1907 scuttled 1933) when she visited the Bruny Island Quarantine Station with returning soldiers in 1919 (plenty of info about this on the National Library’s newspaper site). I’m fairly certain the river steamer on the port side with stern only visible is the BASS though the image as posted is not good enough to identify the other small steamer on the other side) – a bigger scan would be useful.

Re the second photo of WESTRALIA, “JCB” is undoubtedly J C Breaden: see http://trove.nla.gov.au and do a newspaper search for breaden and photographer

He was well known for his maritime photography.
