PENGUIN (CREEK) - "2nd latest date" notation

#1 Post by jlays » Mon Oct 03, 2011 3:18 am

I have a 2d Pictorial, SG 251, with a "Penguin ( ) JY 4 10 Tasmania" postmark. Someone has written on the back "2nd latest date." Does this mean anything of significance? Thanks, Jim

Jim, here are the current late and early dates for the Type 1(x) with 'Creek' removed and the Type 2b datestamp which replaced it.

The annotation may have once been true but I am certain that many dated examples exist from September & October 1910.

Thanks for the info, Ross. I guess I'll just mark it out with a black pen, ha! Just kidding...
