Below is as far as i am aware, the first Tasmanian Revenue to be found with the Tatts Security backprint on.
It is on the 1d numeral with the Government underprint Crown/TAS. Looks to be dated 1924 which fits the use of this stamp.
Can any read add to this find?
Cheers Dave

Re: Tatts Backprint on Numeral Underprint
Dear All
I must confess near complete ignorance of these but I have read around and what better place to look than a post by Ross on this site
http://tps.org.au:80/bb/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=517
There has also been some excellent discussion on Stampboards that had some TPS input leading to the conclusion that the prints were done using a mimeograph machine
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.ph ... s#p1024224
To see a machine in action here is one on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0wUcCInJ2o
I can recall watching my father use one and the process of typing onto the stencil and then the refered application onto paper would produce an image with the appearance of typing. The image would fade with washing .
I have seen these on postage stamps of the KGV period but none as late as Ross's and never on a revenue
