I show below a 2d pictorial with 'O S /VIC.' typed on it centrally. It has a machine cancel (apparently) so has been through the post. I am presuming that it has no status and is a cheap and crude attempt to create something 'scarce'. I do not remember how I came to own it - only that I did not create it.
It begs the question: "Why would someone bother to create such an obvious fake item?"
Any thoughts?
2d Pictorial with typed overprint
Re: 2d Pictorial with typed overprint
I've never seen anything like it. I can hardly imagine that the Vic State Government would overprint a Tas stamp "OS" appart from any other obvious problems. I have never heard of a seemingly typed "OS" overprint.

Re: 2d Pictorial with typed overprint
I have seen something similar (or maybe that stamp) before ...I assume that the overprint is on top of the cancel.

Yes, it would appear to be. As so often, it is hard to tell.
