I have already started some "Post Yours Here" categories for some of the leading publishers
of real photo cards in Tasmania and J.C. Breaden shouldn't be left out.
Here's a fine view of the R.M.S. Queen Elizabeth at Hobart as a troopship during 1942.

The card has a Kodak Austral stamp box on the back as well as "Tasman Series" and J.C. Breaden, Hobart.
I assume that this card would not have been published until after WWII as it was illegal to photograph any such vessel during wartime.
A fine view of the S.S. Westralia taken by Breaden in 1907 can be viewed in the "Which Ship Is It?" category
at http://tps.org.au/bb/viewtopic.php?f=6& ... aden#p2381
If have some interesting real photo cards by Breaden, please post them in the topic.

Re: REAL PHOTO CARDS by J.C. BREADEN - POST YOURS HERE
I have just got 24 Tasmanian plants cards by J. C. Breaden, all of them with the logo stamped on the back as per picture. I have posted some of them here. These are all hand coloured and I think quite pretty. None are postally used and none have dates.

Re: REAL PHOTO CARDS by J.C. BREADEN - POST YOURS HERE
But who was J.C. Breaden, the man behind the photos? Below is an article from the Mercury from 1947, recording his photographic work. His photographic output was substantial, as photographs and postcards. He was born in 1877, and died in 1947. For most of his life he lived at 5 Ratho Street, Lenah Valley. He had several children, one of them G.M. Breaden, who also published postcards. The electoral role in some years lists his occupation as Accountant.
Was he an accountant all his life? Was he self employed as an accountant? He must have nearly been a professional photographer, or was he a part-time amateur? If you can provide any more information about him, I would like to know.
