Crossing the Ford, Mersey or Forth River?
Crossing the Ford, Mersey or Forth River?
Two Spurling cards both numbered 162, the same view but different captions.
No1 "Crossing the Ford", Mersey River. (Postally used but no dates)
No2 "Crossing the Ford", Paloona, River Forth. (Unused)
Which one is correct?

!!! Re: Crossing the Ford, Mersey or Forth River?
But do we know where the ford actually was? Does the road out of Paloona going towards the river actually cross it just off the map?

Re: Crossing the Ford, Mersey or Forth River?
I assumed that because Paloona is much closer to the Forth than to the Mersey, the ford
was on the former. Unfortunately, both rivers have 'fordable' spots in the region at normal water levels
therefore it's really is just an assumption on my part with no primary evidence to offer at this stage.
I'm feeling lucky though!

There was a bridge at Paloona crossing the Forth River. Would there be a ford and a bridge? Is the bridge is in the same spot as the present day bridge?
The Paloona dam is about 2km up stream from the present day bridge. As you can see on the postcard, the country is quite steep and very dense bush.
