Re: 2 items not sure of
You should see Green Book II, p 115 where the Paid Hobart CDS is recorded in two types, one with small 5-point star stops and also with dot stops. However the two types are only recorded with codes H and L.
Yours has the "S" code.
By a coincidence I have a number of copies ( its a common cancel) and all are very small 'star' stops and also Code "S".
So it would seem the Green Books have not recorded the version with star stops in code S though it would seem to be not uncommon.
Rate R in Hardinge though he does not note the type of stop. ( I also think it may be over rated in terms of rarity as there were hundreds of covers around with this marking originally.)

Re: 2 items not sure of
thanks pete , always a pleasure . cheers .do you know anything about the other 6 block ?
Re: 2 items not sure of
Stamps are not my area and I have not seen anything like this. However it is a most interesting item.
There is a record of a very faint printing of the 4d yellow where it was re-printed on the reverse to achieve a stronger impression.
It might assist of you could indicate the watermark so as to identify the printing more specifically and also the perf. Is there anything on the reverse?
Maybe someone with a good knowledge of Sideface printings can offer a suggestion ?
