The forger has reposted the forged 5d Specimen under a new seller id. See post of 18 June 2022. The new seller id is "oceanbluestamps" with a location of NSW, Australia.

Here is something that I am not convinced is the real thing. Advertised as a double perf the holes on the double perf are irregular sizes compared perimeter perfs.

I have dealt with this dealer before and have been more than happy but I think it may be a case of not knowing what is genuine and what is fake. Judge for yourselves.

Another Specimen forgery on a halfpenny recess pictorial is posted on ebay--apparently by the NSW forger using a new seller id "oceaniastamps" with a location of NSW, Australia. Recommend all collectors be very careful buying anything from this seller id.

This is a never-ending saga of fakes and forgeries!

Thanks to Jerry, Ross and many others for exposing these dangerously misleading wares.

Collectors should make every effort to only buy these Specimens from reliable sources.

Similar remarks apply to the problem of faked perfins. (See relevant section of BB.)

The NSW forger is using a new ebay seller id "collectables stamps" for selling his creations. I first saw the new seller id on ebay with a listing of forged OS perfins and now forged Specimen overprints. All collectors should be very careful buying anything from this seller id.

A new type SPECIMEN forgery has been listed on ebay. It is different from previous forgeries on keyplate stamps which have been posted to this bulletin board. The seller is "seela-64" with a location of QLD, Australia.

Another 1d Courier forgery with a fake BN52 cancel is posted on ebay. The forgery is associated with the NSW forger so this may be a new seller id for the forger or one of his associates. The seller is "westernstar142" with a location of Melbourne, VIC, Australia. Recommend all collectors be careful when buying anything from this seller.

I now recommend that all collectors be careful buying anything from ebay seller "seela-64" with a location of QLD, Australia. This seller first appeared on my radar in late March (see post of 25 March 2023) when they posted a SPECIMEN forgery on a 10/ keyplate. Now this seller has listed more forgeries all created by the NSW forger which indicates to me that "seela-64" is a new seller id for the forger or one of his associates. These new items are two Specimen forgeries on a 1/2d and 1d recess pictorials and a group of Courier and Chalon forgeries listed as reproductions.

Another interesting creation has been listed on ebay. This time a forged Halfpenny inverted surcharge on the 1d Sideface. The seller is "midphil" with a UK location. Not in the item description title, but in the smaller print, the seller does state the item is "unlisted" and "of uncertain origin and presumably clandestine". It is definitely a forgery. A comparison with a genuine surcharge shows font differences.

A second example of a new type SPECIMEN forgery has been listed on ebay. This time on a 1d platypus and is listed with the first example seen on a 10/ Keyplate (see 25 March 20023 post). The seller is the NSW forger or an associate of the forger with a seller id of "seela-64" and location of QLD, Australia. (The forged SPECIMEN creations are offered with a 2d Chalon that has been cleaned and a 6d electro pictorial.)

I now recommend that all collectors be careful buying material from ebay seller "Iohel-0" with a location of SA, Australia. It appears that the NSW forger and his associates are creating new seller ids with different locations in an attempt to hide their true identities. Just in the last month, the forger and/or his associates have created new ids with locations listed in Melbourne, Queensland, and now South Australia. The new ebay seller id "Iohel-0" is offering the exact Courier and Chalon forgeries previously offered by "seela-64" (see post of 8 April 2023).

It appears that the NSW forger has created another ebay seller id. The new id is "collectables stamps" with a location of NSW, Australia. The forger has posted a forged 1d Courier with a forged BN62 cancel. The forged cancel has been used on previous creations from this forger.

Another forgery from "seela-64" from QLD, Australia. This one is particularly dangerous and was difficult to assess because the scan resolution was poor, and the creation looked good (clean print). As a helpful tip, all collectors should be careful of any item posted on eBay (or any other site) that is low or poor resolution. More often than not, the seller may be hiding something. In this case another forgery.

Here is another example of material that I don't usually comment on, but the description was infuriating, and I wanted to say something to help educate collectors so they do not get scammed. The stamp is genuine but was used fiscally and cleaned to remove the pen markings. The stamp is described as "MNG" (mint, no gum) in the title and later in the detailed description as "apparently unused" and of "GOOD COLOUR" (seller's capitalization). None of this is accurate. Of particular concern to me is the description of good colour. Most early used Tasmanian stamps that are bi-tonal were probably cleaned to removed pen (manuscript) markings. Notice the fainter tones in the center of the stamp. If you see this type of bi-tonal colouring don't get fooled. Sometimes the bi-tonal colouring is subtle, other times it can be so glaring that the stamp has essentially been destroyed. Some dealers have told me that this type of bi-tonal colouring is just oxidation and can be expected on old stamps. Again, don't get fooled. In some cases, cleaned stamps (and even non-cleaned, fiscally used stamps) have been "re-canceled" with forged barred numeral obliterators or other forged cancelers. I encourage everyone to become an expert on what you collect because more and more forged or manipulated Australian colonies material is coming on the market from within Australia and everyone needs to be knowledgeable. (This stamp is listed on eBay and is item #204349549862.)

I debated where to post this item--under forgeries or under a plate flaw topic, but since the seller (seela-64 of QLD, Australia) is or is associated with NSW forger, I decided to post the item with the forgeries. I decided it had more to do with the credibility of the seller. The item is a genuine 1d electro pictorial that is damaged (surface scuff/scrape) and being sold as a printing flaw.

A forgery of the one shilling Chalon is being offered on eBay as an unwatermarked proof. The seller is "maximus321-6" of QLD, Australia who has been associated with the NSW forger. The item in question does not appear to be engraved and lacks design details. I am not knowledgeable on the various proofs of Tasmania, so anyone with more expertise is welcome to comment.
