mmmmmmm ...I'm not so sure now
Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
The writing says "This is a scene just outside Port Arthur ". Is this on the road to Port Arthur Tasmania? Why would you whistle here?
Anything to do with the guard dogs on Eagle Hawk Neck from the convict days?
Card was post in Melbourne to Kew24/9/04

HUNTING WITH HOUNDS IN TASMANIA
The picturesque view on the right side of the card below is labelled 'Hunting in Tasmania'. The card is by Robert Jolley of Melbourne, and published in 1902.
Did the gentlemen really go hunting with hounds and wearing top hats in Tasmania? I wonder what they were hunting - Tasmanian devils, thylacines, or non-existant foxes?
Are there other hunting scenes on cards from Tasmania? I might make a collection!

This real photo card by W.J. Little is of part of an EMPIRE DAY PARADE at HOBART in 1915
The "I" in the title indicates that this card is possibly the first in a series by Little ....does anyone
have any examples proving that this was the case?

This real photo card is by H.H.Baily, Hobart. Is the view of the Huon River at Franklin?

Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
The hills immediately behind Franklin are not that steep ....further down the Huon maybe but the area in the foreground looks quite "built up"
I'll have a think about it ... Ross

Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
The vegetation on the hills looks too dry to be Franklin
Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
A confirmed view of Franklin by H H Baily. Is the double storey building in the centre the same as the building on the far left in the original scan?
The hills look steep with lots of dead trees.

Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
I have attached two postcards. The full hunt scene RPPC with hounds, horses, top hats and other is outside Askin Morrison's St Peters Pass property near Oatlands. Postally used at Oatlands by Ann Morrison on 21st July 1906 it is to another of the landed gentry, Ruby Thirkell of "Darlington Park" Cressy. Among other things she apologises for the state of the postcard being damaged by a young one with a pen. This is most likely the Midlands Hunt Club, but there were others in the state. Ann knew all the riders and obviously had her favourites based on the love hearts drawn above two riders.
The second split scene RPPC is of another hunt scene outside the same property but with four of the Morrison siblings Askin, Mary, Catherine and Isabel. Postally used at Oatlands on 22nd December 1909 by Bell (Isabel) Morrison to Misses Thirkell at "Darlington Park" with Christmas greetings.
They are to only two RPPCs I have seen of a Hunt with Hounds and full kit. For an interesting read try Trove for the Midlands Hunt Club circa 1909. A full description of the chase and kills, riders and hounds...it is all there.
Hope this answers your query Des albeit two and a half years later.

This card is endorsed on the back "1929 Floods" ....... my best guess is that the location is on the Mersey or Forth Rivers ..... does any know the exact location?

These real photo cards 'date' from 1907-14
Unused card with a 'snow scene' .... township appears to be well-developed ...... Tasmanian location?
This card is probably by the same photographer as the previous card ....is this a Tasmanian location?
Mailed from Hobart to Old Beach in 1907 I assume that this house is somewhere close to the city centre .... anyone know where?
Any information on one or more of these photographs will be greatly appreciated

This real photo card was mailed from Zeehan to Strahan in1909
Is it likely that the photo was taken at Strahan? If not, where could it be?

many thanks Mike ..... I couldn't think of anywhere at Franklin where the distance between houses and the river is that close ..... I didn't allow for reclamation!!

Would value any information about this parade at North Hobart Oval in front of a group of dignitaries - maybe the Duke of York?

A scene of timber cutters posted at Premaydena and the message mentions cutting beams at Koonya - so I am guessing somewhere on Tasman's Peninsular?

Hi Malcolm this is Bertie (then Duke of York)and the Queen Mother at North Hobart oval on 19th April 1927 where they were entertained by 3000 school children. Good write up in the Mercury on 20th April.Malcolm Groom wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 12:32 pmWould value any information about this parade at North Hobart Oval in front of a group of dignitaries - maybe the Duke of York?

Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
Does anyone have any ideas where this rather unique hut is located? The walls appears to be made of heavy duty cast metal rivetted sheets. The postcard came from a family that had a connection to Circular Head area. They could not tell me any information. Could the metal sheets come from a shipwreck or perhaps from an old boiler? So perhaps Balfour, Temma, etc??
There is nothing on the back of the postcard and there is no photographers name.

Re: WHEREIZIT? SEEK ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A VIEW HERE!!!
This real photo card was found with a selection of other cards all with Tasmanian views
I know it's long shot, but does anyone have any idea as to whether this is a Tasmanian view or not?
