Can anyone tell me the name of the regiment/unit, etc. in which these soldiers served. It is believed that the photo was taken in the Swansea/Spring Bay area.

Reference to Tasmanian in the Transvaal War by Bufton shows head shots of all the enlisted men and it is notable that the hats in the postcard images are strikingly similar to the hats worn by the First and Second Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen and are turned up at the right side. The ACH (Australian Commonwealth Horse) show hats turned up at the left brim although there were always some exceptions judging by the images shown in the book.

The soldier in the photo top right is my great grandfather Ted Tilley who was the son of an English farmer and who returned to Somerset after fighting in the Boer War. More can be read about him at: http://tilleyfamily.wix.com/tilley-fami ... illey/cu8t
