The Koichi Sato Grand Prix d’Honneur Collection of Tasmania was sold by David Feldman in Geneva on 27 June 2014. It included many of the finest known mint and used Couriers and Chalons, some wonderful covers and some large used blocks of 4d Couriers and 4d Chalons. The catalogue and prices realised can be accessed easily via the David Feldman website. A remarkable feature of the Koichi Sato collection was that the majority of the used blocks (up to 8 stamps) of 4d Couriers from both Plates I and II have either 'BN1 58' cancels or manuscript '58' cancels of Waterloo Point. This cancellation also featured strongly in the collection of 4d Chalon used blocks from various printings. The number of large blocks implies that several unusually heavy items must have been posted from Waterloo Point during the 1850s. Presumably they formed part of a single correspondence. Is anything known about it?
