Tasmanian Map

#1 Post by songenaz » Sat Jul 18, 2015 7:24 pm

Hello
In order to understand more your country and postal history, I am looking for a detailed map of Tasmania between 1850 and 1870.
Something definitely more detailed than Tinsley's book, page viii. For example , location of Circular Head is somewhat quite esoteric for me!
Do you have any advice or suggestion?
Thanks
Laurent

Laurent,

I did a Google search for map images of Tasmania for 1870 and this was located in the National library of Australia. It shows the early names for places but unfortunately is not high resolution although you can see most of the place names such as Circular Head by expanding it in Adobe Photoshop. I wonder if the full resolution image could be obtained from the National library?
