This notice appeared in the Launceston 'Examiner' on Thursday, December 14th 1899
Could this be regarded as primary evidence that the 1d Pictorial (and one would assume the 2d value) were
first issued at Hobart on Wednesday, December 13th 1899?
Lancaster reported his earliest date for the 1d as being 13.12.99 and for the 2d 15.12.99

It's high time I got back to you on this one.
It's very good to see this notice on the 1d Pictorial as being issued on
13 December 1899. Is there anything in this treasure trove regarding
the date of issue of the 2d Pictorial?
It is quite plausible that the 2d was issued the same day but we don't
know for sure. A different source to tap would be the Premier's Dept
files in the Archives Office of Tasmania. The Premier in those days
was keen to use everything means possible to promote Tasmania to
the world, including the humble postage stamp.
