Forgeries of Tasmanian Stamps
There have been many attempts at forging Tasmanian stamps over the years. Much less common are forged Postal History items. These tend to be a cover with the ‘wrong’ stamp added to increase its value. Forgeries postmarks and barred numerals also appear from time to time.
Recently digital printing has enabled a new type of forgery, often using inkjet printers to add overprints to genuine but common stamps. Below are a few examples of these, courtesy of Barry Gibson.
