Tasmanian Stamp Duty Acts
The history of Tasmanian Stamp Duty began in 1863 with the first Stamp Duty Act, 24 September 1863. The Act was badly flawed and was closely followed by a second Act in October 1863.
Some of the most important Acts are provided below as downloadable PDFs for those who may be interested. These Acts are useful for collectors of Tasmanian Stamp Duty documents to work out the rates as shown by Duty Stamps, Postage Stamps and Impressed Duty Stamps.
The main Acts until 1930 were :
- 1863 ( two in close succession)
- 1870
- 1882
There were also a number of amendments which changed certain specific provisions or rates at various times.
More information will be published here in due course.
