The post office at Glazier's Bay operated over three periods

  • 01-DEC-1899 to 30-SEP-1903 (as a Mail Receiving House) · Miss F.A. Judd was appointed as the first postmistress
  • 01-APR-1907 to 16-NOV-1908 (as a Mail Receiving House)
  • 01-FEB-1912 to 31-MAY-1968 (as a Mail Receiving house until 30-JUN-1927 and from then until closure as an Agency) · Mrs. Alice Teahey was appointed as the first postmistress from this re-opening date.

Allocated BN371 in 1899

As an example of this postmark is yet to be recorded, it's use may have ceased quite early or it may have not been used at all.

  • Earliest recorded date: 14-DEC-1899 · Latest recorded date: 02-JUL-1903
  • Rated: RRR
  • An altered datestamp, used throughout the first period of opening


Type 2


  • Earliest recorded date: 05-APR-1907 · Latest recorded date: 11-DEC-1907
  • Rated: RRRR
  • In use throughout the second period of opening. Only four examples of this postmark have been recorded and all of them are illustrated above!
  • The quality of postmark impressions from this office is mainly poor.... let's hope that if a fifth example turns up, it is of A1+ quality!


Type 4

  • Earliest recorded date: 24-SEP-1923 · Latest recorded date: 13-APR-1956

The first Type 4 datestamps were not issued for quite some time after the post office re-opened in 1912 and it is not known if the Type 2 datestamp was re-issued to the office or some other type was in use during the early years of the third period of operation.
